Product DetailsDescriptionAs we become practiced in sin, we develop excellent defenses against grace. God is out to penetrate our defenses. How does he do it? Is it frontal assault? Sometimes. But sometimes indirection is called for; slipping past the defenses on the slant. It was a favourite method of Jesus; his parables show him at work. By examining the Lukan parables we can train ourselves in discerning both the spiritual defenses that we build up against grace and the method of "indirection" that Jesus uses to get through to us. Eugene H. Peterson is Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology at Regent College. He has written numerous books, authored a commentary on the books of 1 & 2 Samuel, and translated the Bible (The Message) into contemporary English. |
